Discriminatie is iets wat voor veel mensen klinkt als iets wat niet meer gebeurd. Niets is echter minder waar. Discriminatie komt nog steeds veel voor. Iedereen heeft er zelfs wel eens last van in hun leven. Voor mensen met een donkere huidskleur is dit nog veel vaker. Hierom is het belangrijk om wat tegen discriminatie te doen.

Inlichten

Het beste wat je kunt doen tegen discriminatie is het inlichten over discriminatie. Op het moment dat iemand gediscrimineerd wordt of gaat discrimineren, kan het helpen om hem of haar hierover in te lichten. Door dit te doen weten mensen hoe ze hierop moeten reageren. 

Voor omstanders is het dan ook een stuk makkelijker om in te grijpen als ze doorhebben dat iemand een ander discrimineert. Dit is namelijk niet iets wat we in Nederland willen hebben. 

Als je een inlichting wilt over discriminatie en wat voor gevolgen dit kan hebben, kun je het beste naar een centrum voor jeugd en gezin. Bij zo’n inlichting krijg je veel te weten over discriminatie. 

Het gene wat ze je mee proberen te geven tijdens een inlichting over discriminatie is wat betekent discriminatie. Gediscrimineerd worden kan namelijk heel erg veel voor iemand betekenen. Op het moment dat je gediscrimineerd wordt, kun je namelijk het gevoel krijgen dat je minder bent dan iemand. Dit is best wel erg, want iedereen is namelijk gelijk. 

Waar komt discriminatie voor?

Veel mensen vragen zich dan af waar discriminatie precies voor komt. Je komt namelijk vaak wel met discriminatie in aanraking, maar meestal heb je het helemaal niet door. De meeste discriminatie is tegenwoordig namelijk iets wat als normaal gezien wordt in de samenleving. 

Het is tegenwoordig namelijk normaal om een vrouw minder te betalen dan een man. Bij dezelfde baan en dezelfde opleiding kan een man veel meer geld verdienen dan een vrouw. Ook worden bij veel banen eerder een man aangenomen dan een vrouw. Dit is ook een vorm van discriminatie. 

Door het corona laatste nieuws is het ook een stuk meer gediscrimineerd. Deze discriminatie komt weg bij mensen die al een afkeer hadden voor Aziatische mensen. Als je als Aziaat op straat loopt, is de kans groot dat mensen met een boog om je heen lopen. 

Dit wordt veroorzaakt door een aantal mensen die denken dat corona een virus is die is veroorzaakt door Chinezen. Alle Aziatische mensen worden eigenlijk al Chinees gezien. Dit zorgt er dan ook voor dat mensen er eerder omheen lopen dan dat ze langs een Aziaat willen lopen. Dit is iets wat tegenwoordig eigenlijk al heel erg normaal is geworden. 

Het is belangrijk om met zijn allen het probleem discriminatie aan te pakken. Dit kan lastig zijn om te doen. Echter is het wel goed te doen om mensen goed in te lichten over de gevolgen die het discrimineren van een ander kunnen aanrichten. Door dit te doen, wordt er voor gezorgd dat het ook een stuk minder gaat gebeuren.
